Students must have completed at least one term of Advanced/Level 3.

This class will provide an opportunity for students, who have completed at least one term of Advanced/Level 3 or above, to continue to work on a single draft. Focus will be on sustaining the narrative stance. Students will either continue work, start a new work and complete 12 pages by end of term, or work with specific material or scene using a different narrator week by week to explore how the narrator changes the story. All students will have experience with and be prepared to provide feedback founded in awareness of persona writing, and the craft of tone and mood. As work is developed, we will consider how tension is raised, the shape of the work, use of dialogue, detail, and other elements to convey mood, raise stakes, and achieve endings that are inevitable and surprising.

If you have have questions about your eligibility for this class, please email Kathie Jacobson at [email protected].
